Narrative of Services:

I specialize in the unique attribute of MFT treatment which is the heightened sensitivity between you and those in your environment (family members, coworkers, friends) and how these relationships can help or challenge you and your experienced problem areas.  

·       Provide evidence bases CBT and exposure therapy, counseling, psychoeducation, and case management.

·       Provide screenings and psychological treatment plans & goals for patients experiencing mental health disorders. Generate mental health plans and collaborate with other providers, as necessary.

·       Provide psychotherapy for kids, adults, family, couples and groups. In person and telehealth

·       Provide Bilingual Services in Spanish / English.

·      Provide Evidence base Psychotherapies treatments such as CBT and exposure therapy, counseling, psychoeducation, and case management.

·      Provide psychotherapy to university students from UCLA, UCSD, and other UC systems throughout California through telehealth.  

·      Provide Psychotherapy for active military and veterans with OCD, PTSD, and anger management among other duty difficulties.

·       Participate in weekly supervision and case consult. 

The Institute of Behavioral Sciences & Technology treats most mental health disorders depending on the specialty of each individual therapist. Training Description:

Provided counseling, Case Management, and Psychotherapy for clients with Hoarding Disorder (HD) at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) psychiatry department, in conjunction with the Ayers Lab at the San Diego VA Hospital 2018- 2020, under the expert training of therapists and researchers in HD, utilizing the latest evidence-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) protocols for HD.

I have also provided workshops and training on HD for other providers in California and was recently featured in US Weekly News and UC San Diego Health News regarding the treatment of HD.

I received degrees in Psychology A.A., Administration of Justice A.S., Psychology B.A. at San Diego State University, Minor in Counseling and Social Change at San Diego State University, and an M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy at the University of San Diego, in addition to other recent training and certifications as listed.

Narrative of Services:

Over the last 10 years, I have treated well over 100 individual clients with Hoarding Disorder (HD), approximately 50 group clients with HD, and have provided consultation and supervision for many other HD cases.  I specialize in treating HD, OCD, and trauma from a client-centered perspective. I believe in the power of recovery and clients’ ability to make lasting changes in their lives. 

Background and Training:

I received my undergraduate degree from San Diego State University and a Master’s and PhD Degree from Alliant International University. My graduate program is known for their multicultural approach emphasizing it throughout my graduate training.  completed an APA internship at the Central Alabama VA Healthcare System in Tuskegee, AL and completed my postdoctoral training at the VA San Diego Healthcare System in La Jolla, CA. I was mentored by a well-known psychologist who treats older adults with HD, Catherine Ayers, PhD, ABPP.   From 2016 until 2020, I served as a clinical supervisor for the CREST Community Program that assisted low-income at-risk older adults with HD.  I have presented at multiple conferences and been part of expert symposiums focused on treating hoarding disorder.  I have also been involved in research investigating treatments for HD, and co-authored over 15 scholarly articles.
